If you’re planning to send goods outside of the UK (unless you’re posting from Northern Ireland), you will need to complete a customs form first, but it won’t take long at all to do so. Visit us here at Cheadle PostOffice to pick up the forms you need. Alternatively, you can print the forms at home via the Post Office website.
Step 1: Start by finding the customs form you need –and for items worth up to £270, include a completed and signed CN22 customs label. Learn more and discover what the rules are for Royal Mail International Tracked, Signed or Tracked & Signed Service.
Step 2: Once you’ve completed your customs form, don’t forget to sign it and attach it to the top-left hand corner of your parcel. You’re legally responsible for the information on the customs declaration; make sure it is accurate and that each section is filled out correctly.
Please note: customs forms will be required for all countries outside of the United Kingdom, including all EU countries including the Republic of Ireland from 1 January 2021.
Find out more about customs forms on the Post Office website.
Wondering what you can and can’t post by Royal Mail? You’ll find any prohibited and restricted items in the link below and it’s your responsibility to ensure you do not post a parcel containing an item(s) on the list.
These include aerosols, alcoholic beverages, batteries, car parts, lighters, and even some perishable items, like flowers and fruit.
Take a moment to view the list; the items listed are restricted or prohibited from the Royal Mail network, in order to comply with national and international regulations governing the carriage of mail. These restrictions also safeguard you and your parcel’s recipient, as well as our staff.
